Frontier operates two meaningfully different networks under one brand. In areas where fiber has been built, service is typically symmetrical and offered across several speed tiers. In legacy areas that still rely on copper DSL, speeds are usually far lower and are affected by the distance between the home and the serving equipment.

Because Frontier has been actively converting copper areas to fiber, availability information found on third-party websites goes stale quickly. An address that showed only DSL a year ago may now be fiber-serviceable, and the reverse confusion also happens — a neighborhood listed as a fiber market may have blocks that have not been cut over yet.
